I have received a letter from the Inspector General of the Irish Constabulary which holds out little hope of the Government granting consent to any officer being seconded for service under this Government drawing any pay from Imperial Funds.
In the circumstances, I beg to suggest that a telegram be sent to the Secretary of State for the Colonies stating that in addition to the half pay of the post of Deputy Superintendent sent there would be available Fifty dollars
